And the accolades keep on coming for Golden State. Warriors forward Kevin Durant was honoured with an ESPY Award for “Best Championship Performance” at the 2017 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tonight for his role in helping the Warriors defeat the Cleveland Cavaliers, 4-1, in the 2017 NBA Finals. Durant earned NBA Finals MVP honours with averages of 35.2 points, 8.2 rebounds, 5.4 assists, 1.60 blocks and 1.00 steal during the 2017 Finals, scoring at least 30 points in all five games. Fans determined the winners in each category by voting online beginning in late June, when the nominations were announced, until the start of this evening’s ceremony.

The 2017 NBA Champion Golden State Warriors were honoured with an ESPY Award for “Best Team” at the 2017 ESPY Awards ceremony in Los Angeles tonight, following the club’s second NBA championship in three seasons.

While the Warriors may have run away with many prizes, it was eventually Russell Westbrook who won the Male Athlete Of The Year award. Westbrook’s record-breaking season, in which he conquered a 55-year old triple-double record, tipped the scales in his favour.

And while the NBA players and teams were scooping up the awards, WNBA champion and two-time league MVP Candace Parker was awarded the 2017 Best WNBA Player, completing a tremendous season for her.
